Santa Claus is coming to town! Make-A-Wish® Singapore – the organisation that grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical illnesses between the ages of 3 and 18 – is bringing back its annual charity run event, Santa Run for Wishes, for the fourth time on Saturday, 9 December 2017 from 7.30am to 11.00am. This will be one of the many festive activities during the Marina Bay Countdown Carnival held from 8 to 31 December.

Following the success of last year’s run, which drew some 4,600 participants, this year’s event aims to spread some early Christmas cheer by bringing together over 7,000 people from all walks of life to celebrate the worthy cause of granting life-changing wishes.

The Santa Run for Wishes is an annual fundraising event where participants are encouraged to dress as their favourite Christmas characters – from reindeer and elves to Santarinas and snowmen. All registration fees and donation proceeds from the event will go towards Make-A-Wish Singapore and support the granting of wishes to children in Singapore. The foundation aims to raise S$750,000 this year, up from its 2016 target of S$700,000.

This year, participants can choose between a 2km city exploration trail using the LocoMole mobile app to discover hidden treasures in our sunny island, or a 5km run along The Promontory at Marina Bay, then end the day with a holly jolly Christmas Carnival where there will be food, game booths, rides and the opportunity to take a photo with Santa. Members of the public and businesses can also donate gifts for wish children to win as game prizes at the carnival. There will also be a lucky draw and a best-dressed award for the most creative Christmas costume. In addition, the NTUC FairPrice Foundation will be donating S$10 for every toy brought in by participants for the wish children.

*Early bird tickets are available from now till 6 October 2017 at S$42 for adults and S$32 for children between 4 and 11 years old.
