A warm welcome to Movenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa….
That’s how we felt when we met the representative of this lovely hotel, providing their Swiss blend of contemporary and heritage experience in Sentosa, giving us an amazing site tour last week.
It is situated merely across the road to the Sentosa Express monorail – Imbiah station which connects to Vivocity shopping centre and easily accessible to HarbourFront MRT station where the downtown area is just few stops away.
Another perk is being a stone’s throw away from the majestic iconic Merlion which can be seen from their colonial-styled Heritage Premium rooms. Guests are in for an exciting staycation as it is also within walking distance to signature Sentosa attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore, Resort World Casino and the sunny beaches!
Previously, we had a parent reader who gave a review on her recent staycation at Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa. After hearing much, we are more than eager to also make an arrangement of our own for a site visit to have our feel in this 5 Star upscale hotel.
For a start, the main hotel lobby for guest to check in is located at the Contemporary Wing. Do not be confused if you arrive by taxi at the drop-off point located at the Heritage Wing as shown below and not be able to find the lobby.
You will be walking into the hotel’s Galleria which links to the Contemporary Wing. Be dazzled by the striking interior wall of lush foliage. Guests also get to enjoy some light afternoon tea at their Galleria, which oversees their pool area on the left.
The glass-covered link bridge, Galleria spans across the two wings of the hotel with illuminated light features for some Instagram worthy moments. You may also catch a glimpse of the Galleria from the Heritage Wing’s guestroom lift lobby. The Heritage Wing was restored by DP Architects – including the original colonial details, whereas the Contemporary Wing was designed by the renowned Japanese design firm, Super Potato.
We were given their hotel’s fruity welcome drink before we started our site tour. Be pampered the moment you check in with their readily available fruit juice dispenser at the hotel lobby, one level down from the Galleria.
To proceed for check in, guests can take the escalator down to the ground floor. If you are driving, there’s a drop off point at the Contemporary lobby entrance, where wooden furnishings and natural lighting elegantly surround the premises with a warm touch of hospitality, appealing to both leisure or business travellers.
Something “caught” our nose by surprise – an aromatic tranquil scent. It’s their way of easing their guests into staycation mode even before reaching their rooms. Good news if you love pleasant scents, you can bring a set of their Scent-sational Memories ceramic flower diffuser home for $15!
And here’s with the hotel’s refreshing welcome drinks while waiting for your room cards to be ready.
Be greeted by their 24-hour state-of-art fitness room, well-equipped with Technogym equipment. Suitable for fitness buff to dwell in and work out in comfort. The gym is located in the Contemporary Wing, accessible through the Galleria.
The infinity pool is accessible from the Galleria and also from the guestroom passageway located on level 2 of the Contemporary Wing (please feel free to check with their friendly staff as to how to get around and about).
Do we need to say much on the 22-meter cascading infinity pool? By looking at the crystal blue water, relaxing water loungers and surrounding lush greenery, we are loving the idea of basking under the sun and frolicking in the water with our kids for a staycation!
Next up, we headed to their Heritage Wing which features 62 Heritage Premium Rooms. Each room offers a glimpse of a history that backdates to 1940s when the colonial building is a British army headquarters during World War II. Therefore the features of the doors, windows and other architectural details are kept original and fully restored to their former glory since 2012.
In the below image, you will see the beautiful luminescent lift that takes guests up to their Heritage guestrooms. There’s even a heritage phone booth available at both levels of the Heritage Premium guestroom lift lobby. For your convenience, calls are automatically directed to Room Service once you pick up the handset- hola!
Another further convenience for parents with prams and strollers (we trial and tested ourselves!) corridors are widely spaced for both luggage and prams to pass through.
HERITAGE PREMIUM MERLION ROOM
We heard that the laser lights at night are as breathtaking as the daytime view from the colonial windows of the below featured room that offers an unparalleled view of the iconic Merlion. This spacious room is understandably suitable for families who requires baby cots and prams parking.
The generous living area which equipped with a comfortable sofa (And oh! sofa beds are available in the Heritage Premium Family Rooms – which can easily accommodate up to 2 adults) for additional guests who require it by giving a friendly ring to their room service.
Need a caffeine fix when you are pulled out of bed by your little early risers? Indulge in their Nespresso machine which comes with complimentary coffee capsules for a refreshing start to your day!
Have toddlers learning how to walk or still crawling? (that’s us!) The wooden floor and carpets are what we love about this hotel room as we can let stray our little crawler and won’t worry about slippery floors.
The hotel’s Heritage Premium Room provides an adjoining en-suite bathroom area, which features the indulgence of a free-standing soaking tub and separate rain shower glass cubicle. You won’t have to keep peeking at what your little ones are doing while having your bath!
Additionally, generous amenities are delightfully tucked in the dim sum steamer bamboo box where surprises can be found everywhere in this hotel.
Exclusively for the Heritage Premium Rooms, a loofah is also provided for guests who return from sandy beaches after a day with body spread of oily sun tan lotions. Time for lazy self spa exfoliating! (Psst! Couples who hold their wedding lunch in this hotel gets to enjoy the Heritage Premium Room as their bridal suite!)
DELUXE KING ROOM
We were then invited to their 30 sqm Deluxe King room in their Contemporary Wing, where impeccable efforts in maintaining the 5 star standard of the hotel is seen by their flawless bedding linen. We also love how the rooms came with neutral warm colours in creating a tranquil environment for a breather from work.
The granite marble bathroom showcases the comfort and luxury of this room that comprised of a deep-set bath tub with a separate rain shower.
ONE BEDROOM SUITE
The One Bedroom Suite in the contemporary wing spells wedding to us at the sight of distinct living and bedroom areas. Holding many memories of couples who had their weddings dinner in Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa as this spacious executive suite was served as their bridal suite. Otherwise it’s also greatly recommended for parents to bring along your little light bulbs for a second honeymoon.
Offering a spanning panoramic view of luscious greenery, guests can enjoy exclusive privacy for a serene getaway.
Besides the shower and basin areas, rejuvenate with a deep-set soaking bathtub in a separate bathroom, and yes we love this concept of having our own private space, where kids are concerned.
Another room at the Contemporary Wing is The Onsen Suite – which provides urban guests an oasis of relaxation in our tropical island. The perfect venue for throwing a cosy party on special occasions such as mini party or celebrations of anniversaries.
Who wouldn’t fall in love with the spacious patio and unique Japanese-style hot tub? To our delight, there is a retractable overhead canopy which allows guests to make the most of this private sanctuary, whatever the weather may be.
Did we mention that this guestroom comes equipped with its own steam room? For a good 15 mins to get that skin some pore opening and unwinding those tense muscles. Such temptations are too hard to resist, we are surely coming back to have our stay!
WOW ( WORLD OF WHISKY)
Upon entering their whisky lounge – World of Whisky aka WoW by Waldhaus am See St. Moritz – Guinness World Record holder for having the largest whisky collection; we were astonished by their classy glass lighting feature, which lends warm and vibrant vibes to the relaxed atmosphere of the lounge.
Offering over 250 finest premium and rare whiskies that come from different regions in Scotland, guests in WoW can savour indulgent meals or tapas. For the connoisseur who wishes to experience the ultimate whisky experience, enjoy exclusive private whisky pairing dinners at the private dining room, The Malt.
Yet another unique event space, the Crystal Lounge features abundant natural daylight with its ceiling-to-floor bookcase feature wall as well as warm wood interiors and a dazzling crystal chandelier.
Moving on, our taste buds were satiated for some feasting as we were invited to the hotel’s flagship all-day dining restaurant where breakfast buffet are served here. Read here for our review on the restaurant’s signature dishes such as their Black Pepper Char Kway Teow and the Chef’s recommended Turkish Lamb Kofta Balls.
Placed by the restaurant’s entrance, these little wooden chairs are actually used for the diners to place their handbags on. What’s more, we were told that kids love to sit on and play with these chairs too.
Guests also get to enjoy nectarous choices of tapas, pastries and desserts, while enjoying a cup of specialty Mövenpick coffee or TWG teas to be served at the Galleria.
Bring home the experience of a staycation not just about the white, sandy beaches or visiting attractions with your family and kids. It’s also about fulfilling a need to unwind and rejuvenate with a relaxing getaway and unforgettable memories.
The Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa indeed bestows a warm touch of Swiss hospitality with surprises which we did not expect, and we do hope that you will enjoy your stay here too.
We are grateful for our little mascot for his patience in posing for the beautiful photos, did you manage to catch a glimpse of him?
